Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Class Forge (the "Service"), operated by the "Operator" (an independent Pennsylvania-based operator; legal entity name to be inserted upon formation of Class Forge LLC).

By accessing or using Class Forge, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

Note: Once a Pennsylvania limited liability company is formed for Class Forge, this section will be updated to identify the LLC as the legal operator of the Service. Until then, the Service is operated as a sole proprietorship.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Class Forge.
• If you are between 13 and 17, you should use the Service with parental or guardian awareness.
• If you create an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate.
• One account per person. Don't share accounts.

3. What Class Forge is (and isn't)

Class Forge is a planning tool. It helps you organize courses, build schedules, and track your degree progress. The AI Advisor provides general guidance on academic planning.

Class Forge is not a substitute for your school's official advisor, registrar, or degree audit system. Information from Class Forge - including AI Advisor responses, GPA calculations, and degree progress estimates - may be inaccurate, out of date, or misapplied. Always confirm graduation requirements, registration eligibility, and academic standing with your institution.

4. Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your password secure.
• You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
• If you suspect unauthorized access, change your password and email us immediately.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to harm, harass, threaten, or defame other users
• Post slurs, threats, or harassment in reviews (our moderation system enforces this; profanity used as criticism of the app itself is allowed)
• Upload content that infringes someone else's intellectual property
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract source code from the Service beyond what is publicly visible
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to interact with the Service without permission
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Use the Service to violate any law or regulation

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. We do not promise advance notice for serious violations.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of the data you upload (course catalogs, degree requirements, transcripts, etc.). By uploading, you grant Class Forge a non-exclusive license to store, process, and display this data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

You confirm that you have the right to upload any data you provide. If a third party (your school, a publisher) asserts that you do not have the right to share certain content, we may be required to remove it.

For reviews you post on the Feedback tab, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display the review publicly within Class Forge.

7. AI Advisor - additional terms

The AI Advisor uses Google's Gemini API. By using the Advisor, you acknowledge:

• Responses are generated by an AI model and may be inaccurate or incomplete.
• The Advisor cannot register you for classes, contact your school, or guarantee anything about graduation.
• While Class Forge uses Google's free tier, your conversation contents may be used by Google to improve their AI models. Don't share sensitive information.
• Decisions you make based on AI Advisor responses are your own. Class Forge and Google are not responsible for academic, financial, or other consequences of those decisions.

8. Paid features (when available)

Some Class Forge features (currently planned: AI Advisor at $4.99 per semester) will require a paid subscription. The following terms apply when you purchase a subscription:

• Billing. Payments are processed by Stripe. Class Forge does not store full payment card details.
• Subscription period. A "semester" subscription lasts 6 months from the date of purchase unless otherwise stated.
• Auto-renewal. If your subscription is set to auto-renew, you will be charged at the start of the next period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. You can manage auto-renewal in your account settings.
• Refunds. If you are dissatisfied with the paid features, contact us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion.
• Service interruptions. If a third-party service we depend on (e.g., Google Gemini) becomes unavailable for an extended period, we may pause or substitute paid features. We are not liable for partial-period outages but will pro-rate refunds for outages exceeding 7 consecutive days.
• Price changes. If we change subscription prices, current subscribers will be honored at their existing rate until the end of their current period.

9. Intellectual property

Class Forge, including its name, logo, design, code, and all original content, is owned by the Operator. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the Service without permission.

Course catalog content uploaded by users belongs to the user (or, in some cases, to the educational institution that originally published it). Class Forge does not claim ownership of user-uploaded data.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

We do not warrant that information provided by the Service (including AI Advisor responses, GPA calculations, schedule conflict detection, or degree audit interpretations) is accurate, complete, or current. Always verify critical information with official sources.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Operator and Class Forge shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or use, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

For free users, our total liability is limited to $0. For paying subscribers, our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, so the above may not apply to you.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the Operator and Class Forge harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of:

• Your use of the Service
• Content you submit
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third party's rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights

13. Termination

You may stop using Class Forge at any time. To delete your account, email us at classforge.app@gmail.com.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if continued operation becomes infeasible. If we terminate your account for reasons other than your violation of these Terms, we will refund any unused portion of a paid subscription.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

⚠ Attorney note: The choice-of-law and venue clauses above are common but should be reviewed against your actual business situation. If you eventually incorporate or operate from a different state, this section needs updating.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and post a notice in the app. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

16. Severability

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

17. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Class Forge regarding your use of the Service.
